It was just before the 2008 drawing to close that Mr. Ramon Mohandas commenced his duty as the new Attaché of Education at the Indonesian Embassy, The Hague, Netherlands resuming the overdue vacant post left by his predecessor.
Born on 4 May 1957 in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, Mr. Mohandas obtained his doctorate (PhD) from the Flinders University of South Australia in 1999 specialising in Educational Measurement. His career path has been thoroughly within the field of education. Before assuming his post in The Hague, he was the Head of Policy Division, Bureau of Planning and International Cooperation, Secretariat General, Ministry of National Education, Jakarta.
He has enjoyed wide arrays of international experiences. Among others he was a member of the Steering Committee of APEC Future Education Forum and ICT Model School Network (2004-2008). Approximately at the same period he was also the Coordinator of Indonesian APEC Learning Community Builders (ALCoBs). In May 2004 he was a trainer in the Workshop on Statistical Analysis (World Bank Institute), Vientiane, Lao PDR.
Mr. Mohandas has also possessed sound academic experiences including as PhD’s defences examiner, and as the Editor-in-Chief of the Jurnal Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan (ISSN 0215-2673), a publication of the Balitbang Depdiknas. One of his collaborative works (Mohandas, R., Wei, M.H., and Keeves, J.P.) has been published in 2003 by Kluwer, the Netherlands, namely the “Evaluation and Accountability in Asian and Pacific Countries”, in J.P.Keeves (Ed.), Handbook of Educational Research in Asia-Pacific Region.
